clumsy me ...

Another beautiful autumn day:)) but as I have started feeling like little kid again these days( half day-dreaming ), I jammed my left index finger in the door while rushing up to catch the train this morning:(( It hurt a little but looked ok so I didn't care much at that time but it swelled up gardually and is red now...I hear some of you saying "Again?" , well, I know, I am a very clumsy person...I was talking to my acupuncturist last night about how clumsy I was and laughed about it. I bragged about my getting over the clumsiness and see what happened the very next day....aghhhh...well, I should be more careful especially when I am in a hurry( means I should sleep less because I have been sleeping till 8 every day since I quit my previous job last month so I am in a hurry every morning:)) ( btw, I cannot believe that I used to get up at 5:30 six days a week!(o-o)
Anyway, I am changing the subject but I bought a very useful map book yesterday. My host parents have been telling me that I have to buy it ASAP .I am sure that you have heard that experts predict that a massive quake is due in Tokyo in the near future, all we can do is prepare. As I live in Chiba and work in Saitama commuting 3 hrs. both ways by train everyday ( I know ,I am crazy!) In case of a crisis because of a big quake, of course all ways of transport would stop meaning we would have to go home on foot。According to the publisher of the map, so many people contacted them requesting a map for going home on foot and it is on sale now! It is a book including maps of tokyo, saitama and chiba with important info like restrooms and water supplies. I know it is scary but I think it is better to be prepared and hope that nothing will occur. You can find the book at every book store and you can also buy online. Here is the link for Amazon Japan :

After getting the map, I have to but an emergency backpack!

have to go back to work!

what a beautiful day!

it is such a lovely day today with sunshine and crispy air and it is calling me outside but unfortunately I am stuck in the office trying to finish my translation jobs. There is pile of paper to go through on my desk, sigh.....well, I am feeling great today ( it is something not very usual these days, may be it is because that I slept very well last night) so I am a bit faster at work than the previous days .Ganbarou! ( means "let's hang in there"in Japanese)
by the way, I am looking forward to fall in Japan : crispy air, golden and red leaves, kaki which is Japanese persimmon ( I love it! I am not sure if we have it in Turkey too) , many other things that I cannot recall now.

I feel that fall is approaching but the weather forecast said that we will have late-summer heat waves which means hot and humid days will be back so we have to enjoy the nice weather now!:))

need more motivation

I am having some trouble with my lack of motivation since I came back from Turkey or may be it is just mood changing with the season. Anyway, hope it will go away soon.

monday syndrome

Another week has started and I am suffering from Monday syndrome....I don't want to be in the office because the weather is beautiful outside, sunny and nice and it is not too hot. The sky is always beautiful and blue after typhoons... it is a great day to go for a walk but I have to be here in the office trying to finish the translation job I have but my brain is not functioning very well and I cannot concentrate on my job.

Fall in Japan is one of the best seasons, one of my favorite seasons actually. I love the fall and spring in Japan. The weather is so nice and the nature presents you beautiful sceneries. Fall has started showing itself and I am looking forward to the amazing color change of the leaves. I will try to post some pics( if I figure out how to by then) here.

I have to go back to work now!

there is another typhoon heading to tokyo. woke up with the sound of rain this morning at 5. Today I was planning to go to the school fest of the school I used to work at but it was cancelled unfortunately. I was really looking forward to seeing my kids and their great performances but due to the heavy rain, everything was cancelled.sigh....what a luck!
Well, this is another long weekend but it has been raining so I have to stay home... These days
I am really worried about the hurricanes, typoons, flood, etc. that are happening more than ever and they are killing more and more people every time. we human are causing the global
warming and destroying the balance of nature and may be the nature is punishing us because of it. If we all do something small to prevent the global warming, I am sure we can make a change.Take Japane for example. As the summer is really hot and humid in Japan, everywhere is air-conditioned and it is sometimes like a fridge inside( the trains and department stores for example) but this summer the government started the "cool biz" campaign so the air-conditioners are set to 26 degrees in offices to prevent greenhouse effect a bit.Hope it will help a little. I wonder how long it will last, well,we will see.

By the way, I still haven't been able to find out how to upload pictures to my blog, so sorry about the just text posts.

one more day

As I wrote before , this week is a very short one and there is only one more day to go but I don't know why but I have no motivation and I am very slow at work ... I am not that busy these days , may be that is the reason. I was really tired after the shooting for the local TV. I had to repeat everything so many times( as I made mistakes) that I was exhausted at the end. Morever, it rained:((
I have to assist our foreign trainee this afternoon but I won't appear luckily.
I have no plans for the long week and I don't want to waste it like last week but have no specific plans yet( except the sport fest of the school I used to work at - I wish I could dance with my kids like last year but still I am sure it is going to be a lot of fun....)
I am also looking forward to see my kids as I didn't have the chance to say good bye to them, well, actually they did not let me.

gotta go now!

long weekend

today was a very relaxing day . got up sooo late ( around noon actually) as I went to bed very late last night so all my plans for today got cancelled so decided to take it easy today and it felt really great because I did not have to worry about time. Usually life in japan is so busy and I always find myself running around trying to get somewhere in time so not having to rush was very nice. moreover, this weekend is a long one so tomorrow is also holiday, yay!The weather has been nice too during the weekend, hot but not too humid- a great chance to go for a walk so in the evening I went out for a walk with my host mother and we did our grocery shopping on the way back and I decided to cook Turkish for dinner. I made manti which is one of the most popular dishes in my hometown. Manti is like Chinese Gyouza but smaller and it is served with garlic yogurt sauce - I know it sounds weird but tastes wonderful. You should definetely give it a try! I made too much so invited some friends over and they liked it very much. The background music was of course Turkish( I bought the latest CDs of my favorite turkish musicians) and we chatted till midnight. It was really fun!

aghh, time passes very fast- only one more day is left ,then
we will be back at work. oh, by the way, I will be on TV next week. well, it is just the local TV channel but still I am a bit nervous about it.I will have to think about what I will talk during the interview but will do it tomorrow.

I love fridays!

TGIF! Thanks God it is Friday , finally! I have been working for only 3 days after I got back from home but it feels like forever. I am afraid I am still suffering from jetlag and trying to keep my eyes open by taking enormous amount of caffeine( I know it is not very health but I can't help it at the moment.)
I am really looking forward to the weekend because I have a long to-do list. I haven't finished unpacking yet so my room is soooo messy right now but I have to wait till Sunday because I will attend a wedding party of an ex-colleague from the school I used to work till this August. I was very surprised and happy when she invited me he wedding party. The party will be held at a very famous hotel in Ginza, Tokyo (the most exclusive and expensive shopping district in Tokyo, like Etiler in Istanbul) I like those kind of gatherings ad events because I get to meet new people which is not very easy when you work so hard and your life is just shuttling between work and home. (well, this was one of the reasons why I changed my job. You can't meet your friends or have time for your hobbies when you get up at 5:30 everyday, work six days a week, spend 4 hours on the trains commuting, well, at least I could not continue it more than 18 months and ran out of energy but I think it is still a record for me as I am a person who can't do anything without getting enough sleep.)
I am working on a translation on the rights of patients who are compulsorily hospitalized but it is not going very well. (well, first the sentences are tooo long and second my brain is not functioning very well because of jetlag)I will try to finish half of the job today.
Hope everybody will have a great day today!
I still have tons of things to write but it is being a very long posting and I don't want to bore you with it.:)

here I am !yay!

hi everyone! I am finally here! I have been thinking of making my debut in the blog world for a long time to keep my buddies updated and I could make it at last!yay!!!! I will need sometime to make this blog a useful and enjoyable one but hey, I need to start from somewhere , right?please be patient with me for a while!

I am just back in Japan from my trip home ( Turkey) . It was great but super busy as always. I could not spend much time with my dear friends in Istanbul unfortunately but it was great to see them( will post some pics later) . I had tons of things to do and could get most of them done. I spent 5 days in the south, on the beautiful coasts of Mediterrenean ( got suntan- beautiful!), went to Belgium for 2 days( was a short but a verrrrry interesting trip) , and renewed my passport and spent a night with my friends from uni. I wish I had had more time in Istanbul , my favorite city in the world. I really wanted to go to Bogazici Campus but didn't have time unfortunately......but passed by it on the way to the airport:))

well, I am a bit excited now and have tons of things to write but don't know where to start. Please let me think a little bit to organize the things in my mind.

agghhhhh, I am at work but this jetlag is killing me.....

Talk to you soon!
